About Barcelona
Barcelona is a world famous culture, art, business and holiday destination in Spain along with its metropolitan city life, culture & art, entertainment & nightlife, football team, etc. Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain with a population of more than 5 million residents. Barcelona is one of the four provinces (Girona, Tarragona, Lleida and Barcelona) splitting the region Catalonia, situated on the north-east of Spain.

The true heart of Barcelona is La Rambla and Gothic Quarter. Barcelona and its sights can be considered as an outdoor museum carved in great culture and art. Barcelona is a two thousand year old vibrant city having its own language of Catalan, a unique culture and art.

 

It is the capital of modernism (art nouveau) having 5 masterpieces designated World Heritage by UNESCO including; Güell Parc, Palau Güell, Casa Milà (La Pedrera), Palau de la Música Catalana and Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau.

things to do in Barcelona. La Sagrada Família in the Eixample district is the unique symbol of  Barcelona. Güell Parc is among the famous places in Barcelona. La Rambla is another great place to visit and see in Barcelona. Picasso Museum is located in La Ribera district and according to the sources it’s the most visited museum in Spain.

Tibidabo Amusement Park worth climbing and seeing in Barcelona. The underground metro system of Barcelona is really well developed, it’s a real advantage for tourists for sightseeing. Bars mostly close 3 am. and than people move to the nightclubs, dance halls in neighborhoods like El Borne and Montjuic and night goes on till morning. Barcelona is the capital of Spanish and Catalan cuisine. There are numerous cafes, Tapas Bar and quality restaurants offering light meals, snacks, rich wines, great sauces and Spanish & Catalan cuisine as well as fine fish and sea food of the Mediterranean. Barcelona also offers world cuisine. Catalan cuisine combines grains, fresh vegetables and cheeses, olive oil meat sauces.

Shopping
Shopping in Barcelona is one of the best things to do. From popular outdoor markets, antique and handicraft shops, to designer establishments and modern department stores; shopping is one of the major attraction in Barcelona. Barcelona’s shopping line is a 5 kilometer route that lies from the Port Vell to the uptown part of Diagonal, and along La Rambla through the Eixample's modernist area and historic center.

Transportation Network
Barcelona's airport is El Prat International Airport and is located 12 km. from the city center. All major airlines offer cheap flights to Barcelona. Train service connects the airport with Sants railway station in every 30 minutes. Barcelona has a big port with 8 terminals. There are ferries operating to Balearic Islands and Genoa (Italy). Also there is a fast ferry operating to Palma de Majorca. There are 8 daily train service connecting Barcelona. Estación de Sants is the central railway station.
