Castelldefels and Sitges in Barcelona, Spain

 
 

Castelldefels is a resort nearby the International El Prat Airport. With its extensive beach and attractive castle of Fels that gave its name to the town, Castelldefels today is an important and popular residential and tourist centre around Barcelona. Due to its proximity and the good public transportation, many people live in Castelldefels and work in central Barcelona.

Five kilometres of fine sandy beaches, an artificial waterway of 1,2 kilometers, numerous houses, apartments, hotels and restaurants and a series of well equipped and formed camping sites by the sea are the beauties and touristic value of Castelldefels.

Sitges is located in a short distance from Castelldefels. It is a beautiful and mesmerizing seaside resort. It is kind of a heaven place for creative artists, painters and writers.

Things to Do & Places to Visit & See in Sitges
The oldest part of the town which is known as the "Vila Vella" worth seeing. At the one end of the rocky promontory rises the picturesque parish church which is the most characteristic image of the town. There are some museums to visit and see such as the Museu Maricel, the Museu Cau Ferrat and the Museu Romŕntic. The Museu Maricel Museum houses a Catalan sculpture from the 19th century, collections of Romanesque and Gothic art, and a modern art gallery. At the museum of Cau Ferrat, artistic iron, ceramics and paintings are exhibited. The Museu Romŕntic has the museum displays the furniture during the Romantic period and also houses an enchanting collection of antique dolls.

Sitges has two kilometer very nice beach of La Ribera in the company of palm covered promenade area. Beach of Sitges is the town's most popular attraction. The beach are hosts numerous bars, restaurants and hotels. Nightlife activities are also nice in the town.

The Sitges region is also a popular destination and principal centre for the gay community on the Catalonia coast.

Sitges' famous carnival; The Rallye Internacional Barcelona-Sitges of antique cars (annually in mid-March) and The Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia (annually the first half of October) are the best known festivals and events in Sitges.

Purchasing one of the four thousand bottles of "malvasí", the popular local liqueur produced in Sitges every year using age-old methods is a must.
