Overview
Teatro
Museo Salvador Dalí
(Dalí
Theatre Museum) in
Figueres,
Costa Brava
is a must see. Figueres is located 30 km. on
the west of town Cadaques and is the
birthplace of the surrealist artist Salvador
Dalí. The house which has a weird
architecture was built by Dalí on 1929 at
the Lligat Port, on the Cadaques coast.
Dalí Theatre Museum is the second most
visited museum in Spain after
Prado Museum in Madrid.
What to
See
The
museum is very interesting. Kind of a
typical Dalí project. The surrealist
artworks amaze hundreds of thousands of
visitors every year. There are plenty of
them even in the square in front of the
museum.
A municipality theatre
has ruined and its stage fulfilled with
weird sculptures and an old Cadillac
carrying an
Amazon sculpture with gilded breasts parked
at the courtyard.
There are huge
chicken egg patterns on the kennel, a roof
profile covered with geodesic dome and a
variation of Sestina Chapel dedicated to Mae
West, having a lusty red lip instead of
a couch.
