Sports & Health Tourism in Costa Brava


Costa Brava is a perfect destination for sports and health tourism with its very suitable geography, facilities and infrastructure network. There is a wide range of water sports and winter sports activities to be experienced throughout the year in Costa brava.

Costa Brava coasts house more than thirty beaches and it is highest proportion on the Mediterranean. Costa Brava beaches are awarded the European Union blue flag for its excellence of the prevailing conditions. There are numerous beaches with boards for hire and specialized instructors, where visitors are able to take windsurfing lessons.

Roses beach and Pals beach are one of the best windsurfing locations with its long stretch of sand and regular presence of waves.

Caminos de ronda is the term for strolling or short rambling by the sea. Costa Brava offers the best ones. Costa Brava hosts seventeen yacht basins and marinas along the coast that are providing berths for all types of leisure craft. Many of the marinas have their own sailing school.

The Medes Islands, opposite L'Estartit, are the prefect destination for scuba diving. They provide natural setting and the wealth of the marine life is fascinating with its wide variety of native flora and fauna in the tiny archipelago of seven islets.

There is 100 km. of  green route (vía verde) linking Olot in the interior to Sant Feliu de Guíxols on the coast and via Girona. The route is also known as the "ruta del carrilet". This wellkept green route is a perfect attraction for nature lovers and walkers as well as the cyclists.

There are five ski resorts in the Girona Pyrenees to chose from. Four of them is for downhill (Alpine) skiing and one is for cross-country (Nordic) skiing. There are three popular health spas in Costa Brava located in Caldes de Malavella (two spas) and in Santa Coloma de Farners, in the La Selva district.
