Overview
Costa del Sol has lively and colorful “Fiesta” or exciting “Feria”. Most
of the fiestas in Costa del Sol are religion oriented and include
processions.
Holy Week is the major grand
festival in Costa del Sol and with its traditional display of the
passion of Christ by the townsfolk, it holds a special significance
especially in
Málaga, Riogordo and
Ronda. Brotherhoods,
religious images, bearers of stages in the Passion of Christ in the
company of religious songs.
The blessing of Christ
during the early morning of Good
Friday holds a special significance in Arcos
de la Frontera.
The Cruces de Mayo
that is a springtime celebration that is hold in the towns of
Casabermeja, Coín and Torrox. Adorning the squares
and corners of the towns with flowers are worth to see.
An Andalusian tradition of Romerías
that is the pilgrimages or visits to nearby shrines is
another significant one in
Estepona and
Nerja in

San Bernabé in
Marbella and
Day of the Fish Fry in
Torremolinos in June, the Fiestas
Mayores in Estepona and the Virgen del Carmen
on the entire coast in July are the maritime festivals
of Costa del Sol.
Benalmadena also celebrates Corpus
Christi in mid June which is an important Spanish
fiesta..
Fiesta de la Recolección and
Fiesta del Ajoblanco of
Antequera - Almachar and La
Asunción in Cómpeta in August are the
festivals associated with the rites of the harvest.
The celebrations of San Miguel is
hold in Vélez Málaga and Torremolinos in September.
The Festival of the Raisin is
hold in Alcaucín and El Borge in September and is
one ofe the most significant one in the lands of La Axarquía.
Music festivals in summer is also fascinating in Costa del Sol. The
Summer Festival of Music and Dance
in Nerja in August and the Day
of the Tourist in Torremolinos in the early
September are the most intense.
The Festival of Moors and Christians
in Benalauría in the early August is also worth
