The Costa Tropical is popular with its attractive towns of Almuñécar, Castell de Ferro, Motril, La Herradura and Salobrena. Costa Tropical offer all types of water sports and side trips through the verdant inland regions for the holidaymakers.

Almunecar is a popular holiday tourist destination with its lovely beach and historical town. The beach of Playa Puerta del Mar is Almunecar’s main beach. During summer, the water park of Aquatropic opens its doors to the visitors in Almuñécar. The beach of Playa San Cristobal is the best known beach of the region that most hotels and holiday apartments are located. Remains of five sections of a Roman aqueduct, a Moorish castle, the Archeological Museum located at Cueva de Siete Palacios and San Miguel castle, the Ornithological Park with more than 120 species of birds and El Majuelo park are the places of interest and the popular attractions in the town.

La Herradura is popular for its water sports and scuba diving opportunities including a fine sandy beach. The 2 km. beach of Playa de la Herradura is one of the nicest beaches on the Costa Tropical. Just bordering Málaga province, it has recently become one of the most singular beach resorts on the Tropical Coast. In addition, the nudist beach of Playa Cantarriján is very close to the town.

Salobrena is famous for its great climate and long beaches. Variety of water sports and outdoor sports are available at the town for all year round.

Motril is a nice hill town located on the slope of Sierra Lújar and also the second most important city on the Costa Tropical. The perfect climate and 20 km. coastline makes Motril a perfect beach holiday destination in Costa Tropical.

For the side trips, Costa Tropical is very close to Alpujarras that is the last Moorish stronghold on the Iberian Peninsula and Granada with the Moorish palace of the Alhambra.

As for shopping in Costa Tropical; the diverse crafts of the Tropical Coast attract its visitors in the towns along the coast. There are several workshops of pottery, baskets, tapestry, bobbin lace, macramé and leather articles.

As for sports in Costa Tropical; The Costa Tropical is very ideal for variety of water sports such as scuba diving, windsurfing and fishing.
