Picos de
Europa is
situated on the Cantabria region of
Costa Verde, on the north-west of
Spain. It is located 2,600 meters on the
Cantabrian mountains that is about 25
km. inland from the northern coast of Spain.
Picos means "peak" which represents the
environment. For having an ecological and
nature holidays in the
company of green nenvironment in Spain, Picos de
Europa is an ideal destination in the land
of the Costa Verde with its fisherman and
the farmer villages. Most of the region is
now a national park.

Do & See
Picos de Europa is a wonderful village
on the green mountains. Along the Deva River
there stands the gorgeous canyon of
Desfiladero de la Hermida. The region is
very popular for hiking and nature walk. You
may see various kinds of birds there. The
panorama at the canyon is great. Observation
of wild life and botanic gardens is great
attractions in Picos de Europa. Local
cheese named "queso de cabrales" is the
region's famous dish worth tasting. You may
easily find places for accommodation in
Picos de Europa.
Picos de
Europa National Park has two traveler
centers. One is Pedro Pidal in Cangas
de Onis, Asturias and the other one is
Sotama in the valley of Liébana.

The sea and the mountain regions are very
suitable for daily tours. The region's
capital city of Santander is a nice
port and promenade village to visit and see.
Santinella del Mar, located 26 km. on
the west of Santander is a wonderful middle
age village with its houses made of golden
colored stones, stone fitted streets and
aristocratic mansions. The village is known
as the "the best village of Spain". El
Sardinero is a famous village with its
nice gardens, bars and restaurants offering
great seafood.
