Sant Josep de sa Talaia (San JosÚ) in Ibiza, Spain


Sant Josep, also known as Sant Josep de Sa Talaia is located on the south west of Ibiza. It is the administrative town and the richest of the island and the largest municipality of the island. The municipality of Sant Josep de Sa Talaia is the most extensive on the Ibiza island and the one that boast the greatest number of beaches within its 80 kmi of coastline.

The town established under the highest mountain of the island. Sant Josep shares the Playa d'en Bossa beach with the municipality of Eivissa and Sant Antoni's Bay on the west. Sant Josep is known as the town preserved its traditions.

The attractive building standing on the main square with its white huge facade is the most interesting church in the island worth seeing.

The coastline of the municipality is about 80 km. and hosts important tourist resorts as well as beautiful coves in the Pitiusas such as Cavallet, Ses Salines, Cala Jondal, Cala d'Hort, Cala Carbˇ, Cala Vedella, Cala Tarida, and Platges de Comte.

  • See the look-out towers, the Tower of Es Savinar - Located by the coast, the tower has a spectacular view of the mythical islets of Es Vedra and Es Vedranel.

  • Sant Jordi de Ses Salines - It is the village that is the most closest to the airport. The fortified church surrounded by flowers and palm trees is worth a visit together with another charming church situated at the entrance to the Ses Salines Natural Park.

  • The beautiful Ses Salines Natural Park - The beauty of the ponds of salt-flats and the environment is worth a visit. Ses Salines Natural Park and the nature reserve of the islets d'es VedrÓ, es Vedranell and Islotes de Poniente offer great nature activities of interest. Ses Salines is also famous with its flamingos.

  • A visit to the attractive villages of Es Cubells and Sant Agusti that include a beautiful whitewashed church and beautiful views of the sea. Sant Agusti is famous for its patron saint festivities that is held at the end of August with open air concerts. Es Cubells is a charming village that hosts a small church with a spectacular view. There are also two bars worth a visit and eat out.

  • Mount Sa Talaia - The 475 meters mount Sa Talaia located at the center of the town, offers a great landscape and panoramic view of the island including the Es Vedra islet that ascends from the sea like a pyramid.

  • One of the nicest attraction in Sant Josep is to visit the important archaeological sites such as Sa Caleta's Phoenician village (7th century BC) that is a Punic-Roman settlement and declared a World Heritage Site.

  • Spend a nice day out at the beaches of Sant Josep.
