Overview
Playa Blanca is a former fishing town and one of the most popular holiday resorts in Lanzarote located on the southern Lanzarote. Playa Blanca is mostly a family holidays resort.

Attractions & Things to Do & See in Playa Blanca
There are lots of cafes, restaurants, bars, shops and a few big hotels in Playa Blanca.
The buildings are separated far from each other and that makes the town a quite and calm place that is very suitable for family holidays in Lanzarote without noise pollution at nights. The holidaymakers prefer this resort for beach relaxation rather than crazy nightlife activities.

One of the nice beaches in Playa Blanca is its main central golden sandy beach that is located at the end of the harbor.

There are variety of beautiful beaches around the town. The most beautiful, clear and warm ones are hidden on the east part by the rocky capes. Playa Papagayo beach is the most famous and popular of the beaches in Playa Blanca and nicest one of the Lanzarote beaches.

Playa Dorada is another more exposed beach on the east with attractive facilities such as restaurants, bars, shops and watersports activities.

There is also a beautiful promenade area by the beaches where most modern hotels and great holiday villas and apartments take place.

Playa Blanca Restaurants to Eat

There are many different restaurants in Playa Blanca offering a variety of different cuisines.

Plaice in the Sun restaurant is located at the Central Comercial Papagayo. Everyone raves on the fish and chips. The fish is delicious with a crispy batter and the best chips you will find, nothing like you find at any grocery store.

L'italiano restaurant is located at Calle Corriquia 5; Calle la Pena 6. This Italian restaurant has some of the best tasting treats. Some of the most popular dishes include the bruschetta, pasta, Tiramisu and Lemoncello. The staff is very friendly and the food is prepared fresh.

Gelateria Italiana Verderosa is located at Calle Limones 38 and is the best place in all of Playa Blanca to enjoy ice cream. They offer a large array of different flavors that everyone will enjoy. They even offer delicious lattes and cappuccinos that are sure to please your palate.

Eating joint Romantica is located at Avda De Papagayo 10 is an upscale restaurant offering magnificent view of the bay across to Fuertaventura. The experience here is wonderful with a themed menu and great fusion choices. The laid-back atmosphere is very nice in this busy bustling town.

The Port of Call restaurant is located at Local 7 Faro Park, Calle Irlande. This is a very nice restaurant with wonderful servers. The manager even matches the wine with the food so your taste buds are sure to enjoy the experience. The prices are quite affordable and you are sure to love the food. Most popular dish is the Karl's Hunters Chicken. It is very popular, so it is best to call for a reservation.

Atlantico Bar Restaurant is opposite the church above the Renal Car at Av. Papagayo no. 75 local 13. The restaurant offers a breakfast, delivery and late night meals. The Portuguese cuisine is wonderful. The owner is also the chef and everything is prepared using fresh ingredients. The most popular dish is steak Atlantico.

Marea Terraza Lounge Bar is located at Centro Comercial La Mulata. This is the perfect place to enjoy a few cocktails after dinner. The view of water and the lighting make for a very romantic evening. The ambient music also helps to create a very nice evening. From here, you may even get the opportunity to watch the dive school take people out for a night dive. The torch lights underwater are magical as you sit and sip and your cocktails.

Things to do in Playa Blanca

While visiting Playa Blanca there are all kinds of things to do that the entire family will love.

Go on top of Montana Roja

visit the Montana Roja from Playa Blanca is an exciting adventure that takes you to the top of the mountain. Many families rent bikes or just walk to the top. It will take about 30 minutes to reach the top, but once you are there the views is breath taking. It is best to go in the morning before temperatures rise and wear comfortable shoes.

Visit Marina Rubicon from Playa Blanca

Marina Rubicon is a spectacular marina with all kinds of restaurants, bars, and shops. There is even a market every Wednesday and Saturday from 9am to 2pm, so you can find all kinds of unique treats. The Marina Rubicon is the most stunning feature allowing you to stroll for a 20 minute walk along the seafront and watch the boats come in and out of the marina as well as enjoy all the fish eating nearby.

Gulls are also very prominent as the swoop down for their own dinner. The entire walk is amazing with reflecting pools and wooden bridges as well as whitewashed shops and paprika and terracotta restaurants,

Shopping at the Marina Rubicon Market

The market is an excellent place to visit which is a bit unique from other markets. This one is a craft market where you can find a variety of items including handmade dolls, scarves, jewelry, knitwear, leather goods, and more.

Walk to the castle "Castillo de las Coloradas"

The easiest way to get to the Castillo de las Coloradas is to walk from the marina. The castle is quite unusual as it is large and round. The castle sits atop a hill on a cliff that overlooks out toward Fuerteventura. The setting and views are awesome even though you cannot enter the castle. The castle was built during the 18th century on the same location that Jean de Bethencourt had his base came in 1402.

Golden Beach is a very nice 300-meter beach that offers calm water and a sheltered lagoon. You will also enjoy the shops and a few restaurants scattered among the palm trees as well as a few rides for the children.

Playa Dorada beach is also a 300-meter beach offering honey colored sand and nice calm water. Swimming, snorkeling, jet skiing, and parascending are among the popular activities.

Timanfanya National Park is home to a very unusual looking terrain due to several volcanoes blowing their tops at the same time. You can enjoy taking a camel through the park or hiking to the summit. At the summit there is a nice restaurant that where the chefs actually cook the food using the heat from the semi-dormant volcano.

Graciosa Sail tour is a very relaxing boat trip that will take you along the coastline where you will be able to enjoy the beautiful rugged cliffs as well as the white sandy beaches. About an hour after sailing, the tour stops at Montaña Amarilla Beach where you can enjoy snorkeling or just relaxing on the beach. Lunch is served on the boat along with an open bar, soft drinks and water.
