Pollensa
(Pollença) is a beautiful and very popular beach
holidays resort in
Majorca
located in
the north of the island, by the foot of the
Tramuntana Range. The town together with Puerto
Pollensa is very popular with the British
holidaymakers.
Attractions, Things to Do & See in Pollensa
Pollensa is dominated by two hills which are the
Puig de Pollensa and the Calvari. The town is the
birthplace of the poet Miguel Costa i Llobera.
Places to visit and see at the town include several
stone fountains, a charming parish church, the Roser
Vell Oratory and the Baroque Monastery of Santo
Domingo (St. Dominic’s) with its impressive
cloister, 16th century retable and 18th century
Valencian organ.
There is a well-preserved Roman bridge on the
outskirts of the town. The Calvari hill is a great
sight with a cypress-bordered stairway of 365 steps.
Puerto Pollensa is the towns wonderful beach and
tourist area located 5 km. from central Pollensa.
Variety of water sports, extreme sports and kite
surfing are very popular in the bay.
Pollensa
is one of
the most important towns on the coast popular by the
artists and celebrities. In addition, The Cala de
San Vicenç and the Formentor peninsula are worth to
visit and see. Beaches in Pollensa on the north end
of the island are a bit windy but the facilities
around the region are excellent.
The town is also lively with its bars and nightlife
located mostly in Plaça Mayor. |
