Overview
The
Cathedral of Seville & La Giralda Tower
is one of the most popular two monuments and
a must see place in
Seville. Seville Cathedral is one of
the biggest gothic Cathedral in the world
after San Pietro in Rome and St.Paul's in
London.
The Cathedral
was built after the collapse of the big
mosque in 1401. The construction has
continued for a century. The unusual
wide and rectangular shape of the cathedral
is due to the plan based on the collapsed
mosque.
What to
See
The Cathedral
hosts more than 30 chapels. The tomb of
Christophe Columbus is situated on the south
entrance. On the northern side of the
Cathedral, there is the Patio de los
Naranjos garden.
La Giralda
tower of the Seville Cathedral dates back to
1184 and is the most important and unique
part of the Cathedral. It has a height of 70
meters. The outer part of the tower is
typical sebka design. At the inner part
there are 35 ramps and an observation
platform. The city's panorama worth seeing
at the tower.
