Puerto de la Ragua Ski & Mountain
Resort |
 |
Situated
in one of the least-known areas of the Sierra Nevada massif, astraddle the
provinces of Granada and Almería, Puerto de la Ragua forms a natural mountain
pass between two clearly distinct regions whose customs, traditions and life
style remain unchanged despite the passing of time. Just 15 km to the south, we
are greeted by the age-old, Moorish charm of La Alpujarra; while to the north,
we are awed by the majesty and grandeur of the Castilian high plateau of
Marquesado del Zenete. At an altitude of 2,000 m, Estación Recreativa proudly
surveys the surrounding area, the beaches of Almería, Cabo de Gata, Sierras de
Baza, Cazorla, Segura and las Villas, Sierra Mágica, Sierra de Húetor, the
Guadix-Baza Basin, looking right across to the snow-capped peaks of Sierra
Nevada. Far removed from the hustle and bustle of alpine skiing resorts, Puerto
de la Ragua promotes all kinds of outdoor pursuits (long-distance skiing,
mountain biking, Al backpacking, orienteering and archery) in a perfect, natural
setting which is also the home of the Sierra Nevada National Park.
