SnowZone is the firm operating Spain’s only indoor ski run, located at the
Madrid Xanadú Shopping Centre. It features two distinct runs, the main one, for
experts, and the other, for beginners. With a temperature set at - 2º, the
resort tempts us with natural snow, ideal for practicing snow sports. The
up-to-the-minute ski lift system consists of a four-passenger chair lift and a
ski tow for the main slope, along with a moving walkways and ski tow for
beginners. In addition, 400 sets of equipment are available for hire. The
resort’s own skiing school is run by a team of E.E.E.-qualified
instructors. The firm is part of Intrawest, the world’s leading specialist in
holiday resorts and adventure tourism. Intrawest operates at 10 of North
America’s most popular mountain resorts, including Whistler Blackcomb, the venue
of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Puerto
de Navacerrada is the ski resort lying nearest to Madrid (60 km) and Segovia (72
km). It is divided into two distinct areas: the upper area, with slopes at
medium to high altitudes; and the lower area, with medium and beginners’ slopes,
protected by pine groves. This resort is the only one in the Autonomous
Community of Madrid with a snow production system to prepare the slopes.
Moreover, areas of great interest are close at hand for those looking for
alternative ways of spending their leisure time: La Granja, Segovia, El
Escorial, Rascafría, Fuenfría, etc.
