One of the greatest attractions of Puerto de la Cruz
is the Lago Martianez. It is a series of seawater
pools conceived by the Canary artist Cesar Manrique
that forms an extraordinary spot for bathing and
resting in the sun for the holidaymakers.
Harmonizing his architecture with the exotic. The
beach of Lago Martinez is well built one including
the sea water pools, palm trees and fountains. It is
the nicest one of the Tenerife beaches.
Puerto de la Cruz houses a number of buildings of
great historical and artistic value worth a visit
and see. They include; the church of Nuestra Señora
de la Peña, the Ermita de San Telmo (ermita;
hermitage chapel), San Felipe Castle, la casa de la
Aduana (Customs House) and the old quay where small
fishing boats are still moored.

Lago Martinez beach, Puerto de la Cruz has also
small beaches of volcanic sand and the best ones are
the Jardin and Martianez beaches.
On the outskirts of the city; the botanical gardens
and the Loro Park are a must especially for the
nature lovers. The botanical gardens founded in 1788
and hosts big number of trees and plants from every
corner of the world. Loro Park is another tropical
garden with the largest collection of parrots in the
world. It also has a parrot show and an excellent
dolphinarium.
Loro Parque of the parrots, the gardens and banana
plantation of Bananera El Guanche, botanical gardens
and beaches are the popular nearby attractions in
Puerto de la Cruz.
