Saint Vincent Martyr

22 January (annual)

Saint Vincent Martyr is the patron saint of Valencia. Saint Vincent’s feast day is celebrated within the city’s municipal terminal. Various ceremonies take place on this day, including a general procession through the different places where the saint was martyred and a Mozarabic mass is held in his honor.

Maritime Holy Week

March or April (annual)

The traditional Maritime Holy Week celebrations take place in El Maritim. Highlights of the events include; the procession of the Palms, the Entombment of Christ and the Resurrection Parade.

MTV Winter Valencia

March (annual)

Valencia host the MTV Winter Music Festival in the City of Arts and Sciences.

The most baroque Corpus Christi

60 days after Easter Sunday (annual)

This is the celebration historically considered the “Big Festival” in Valencia. Corpus Christi is a demonstration of how the festive, symbolic, metaphoric and religious spirits live together in harmony in Valencian society. The events start at 12pm.

Saint Vincent Ferrer

2nd Monday of Easter (annual)

During the second Monday of Easter, Valencia celebrates the feast day of Saint Vincent Ferrer, patron of the city and Kingdom of Valencia. Numerous altars containing images of the saint are raised in different areas of the city.

The “Virgen de los Desamparados” (Our Lady of the Forsaken)

2nd Sunday in May (annual)

The night before the 2nd Sunday in May, the popular Carmen district is both the setting of the vigil for those taking part in the celebrations in honor of the Virgin and the typical night life scene with its many bars and clubs. Among the celebrations in honor of the Virgin is a morning mass for children and the evening procession beneath a shower of rose petals.

Valencia hosts the Global Champions Tour which is the world's popular horse-jumping circuit.

Valencia Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe

Summer (annual)

Valencia hosts Formula 1, Grand Prix of Europe every summer between 2008 and 2015.

“Feria de Julio” (July Fair)

July (annual)

Valencia offers the possibility of combining the the beaches and summer leisure sights with a wide range of recreational and cultural activities in the form of the “Feria de Julio”. The July Fair of Valencia include; concerts, the Valencia International Music Band Contest, bullfighting celebrations, the traditional fair jam-packed with attractions and the other events together with the mythical “Battle of the Flowers”.

9 October (annual)

On 9th October, Valencia remembers the conquering of the city by Jaime 1 in 1238, a symbol of its incorporation into the Christian world and the birth of the Kingdom of Valencia.
